Meet the Team!

President

Cindy Harrison

I'm a devoted animal lover and the proud owner of four spirited dogs and two laid-back cats. My pack includes Hank, a sweet adopted Dachshund; Gemma, a lively Merle Chihuahua; Charlotte, a resilient rescue from a Texas kill shelter; and Isabell, my pampered long-haired Dachshund.

After years of dreaming and planning alongside a fellow director, we're finally turning our vision into reality with the launch of Wee Ones Rescue. With over six years of experience as a director and volunteer with another rescue organization, my dedication to animal welfare has only deepened. I've adopted dogs with a range of behavioural challenges and had the privilege of working with some incredible trainers and behaviourists along the way.

Helping animals has been a lifelong passion, and I’m thrilled about the future of Wee Ones and the chance to make a meaningful difference—one rescue at a time.

Vice President

Rebecca Cox

Hi, I’m Rebecca—I'm proud to wear many hats: baker, auntie, devoted fur mom, loyal friend, and loving daughter. Recently, I’ve added a new and deeply meaningful role to that list: dog rescue volunteer.

My lifelong love for animals has always driven me to support causes that truly make a difference, and joining Wee Ones Dog Rescue is the beginning of an exciting new chapter. I’m looking forward to the meaningful connections, rewarding challenges, and heartwarming experiences that lie ahead.

Being part of this rescue community feels like a dream come true. I can’t wait to meet the amazing people and animals who will become part of this extended family and to play a role in giving dogs the second chances they so deserve. Every moment reaffirms my passion for helping animals and making a lasting impact on their lives.

Director & Surrender Coordinator

My journey with the organization began when my wife and I met Tinkerbelle and Nutmeg at a meet-and-greet. It was love at first sight, and adopting them changed everything for us—it also sparked my desire to get more involved in rescue work.

Witnessing the transformation in dogs as they find their forever homes is deeply rewarding. It fills me with pride to be part of such a compassionate, dedicated team that works tirelessly to give these animals the lives they deserve.

Each adoption story strengthens my passion and motivates me to keep going. I'm excited to continue this meaningful journey alongside others who share the same unwavering commitment to helping dogs in need.

Treasurer & Director

Linda Carrier

Though I’m new to the Wee Ones family, I’ve been a passionate supporter of this incredible rescue for quite some time. My commitment to speaking up for those who can’t speak for themselves perfectly aligns with the mission of Wee Ones.

I wholeheartedly believe that every dog deserves a safe, peaceful, and loving forever home—and I’m dedicated to helping make that a reality for as many as possible.

Joining the Wee Ones team has been an exciting and meaningful step, and I’m eager to contribute my time, energy, and skills to this important work. Being part of such a compassionate and driven organization is truly rewarding, and I look forward to supporting our shared mission every step of the way.

Carol Apesteguy

Paillative/Compassionate Care Coordinator

My journey with Wee Ones began in August 2022, when I became a foster to two incredibly sweet dogs in the Compassionate Care Program. Sadly, the female passed in March 2024, but her brother continues to live his best life. It was through this experience that I found my passion and officially joined the team as the Palliative/Compassionate Care Coordinator.

Now retired from my role as an Educational Assistant, I have more time to dedicate to caring for animals in need. I’m a proud mom to three grown children, grandma to two wonderful grandkids, and a former host parent to over 60 international students. Our home is also shared with my Havanese/Shih Tzu mix, George (also known as Houdini), and two cats.

Since I began fostering with Wee Ones, I’ve discovered a deep love for small dogs. I'm currently fostering a 3.5 lb Chihuahua—something I never imagined doing! This little guy has me cooking and even baking for him. He’s a cranky old man, but he’s mine, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Over the past two years, about eight dogs have passed through our home, each one bringing joy, challenges, and unconditional love. I feel privileged to be part of their journey and to offer them the care and comfort they deserve.

I’m so happy to be part of Wee Ones Dog Rescue, where I can combine my passion for dogs with my skills as a Graphic Designer. I’ve loved small dogs for as long as I can remember.

My journey into rescue work began in 2019, just after graduating college. I started fostering with a rescue in Northern Ontario and quickly became a “foster fail” when I adopted a senior Shih Tzu mix. He was only with me for a short time, but he made a big impact on my heart.

Since then, I’ve fostered two more dogs and adopted another—my sweet Shih Tzu mix, Winter. My love for dogs has only grown, and I’m grateful to support Wee Ones not only through fostering but also by using my design background to help more pups find their forever homes.
