Poppy’s previous life was one where her medical needs were neglected. At first glance we knew that she would need a dental and hernia repair. Both are scheduled to happen on April 27th.
While in care, Poppy started having spasms in her back legs and was showing signs of pain. After an emergency vet visit, we learned that she has a touch of IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease). During the exam, it was also discovered that her back knees were popping in and out of their sockets.
We are putting a plan of action into place. First we will deal with the IVDD, then dental surgery and hernia repair. Once she has healed from those procedures, we will look at her being referred to a Orthopedic Specialist to see what we can do about her knees. Because of this Poppy’s medical costs are going to skyrocket.

Each year, bikers from across the Maritimes gather for Blessing of the Bikes to kick off the riding season, and we’re excited to be back with our annual BBQ fundraiser in support of the dogs in our care.
Come out, enjoy some great food, and support both the biking community and rescue dogs.
