How did she get here:
Winnie came to us after her family made the incredibly difficult decision to surrender her due to concerns for her safety in a home with a young child.

What type of home is Winnie looking for:
Winnie would do best with a calm, patient person or couple who enjoys a moderately active lifestyle and can give her the time she needs to warm up to new people.
She loves exploring, hiking, walking and sniffing adventures, but she is equally happy to settle down on the couch and snuggle with her person afterwards.
Winnie does well with both small and large dogs and would enjoy having a calm canine companion. She settles well when left with the pack and can comfortably stay alone for up to 6 hours when accompanied by another calm dog.
Non-negotiable 'must-haves':

Calm introductions: Winnie needs to be given time to sniff and approach new people at her own pace. She should not be rushed into interactions.

An active home: Her ideal family should enjoy daily walks and opportunities for sniffing, exploring and adventures.

No young children: Winnie has not been introduced to young children, so a home without young children is required at this time.

Preferred but not required: Another calm dog in the home. Winnie currently does well when left with the pack and her foster recommends a home with a calm canine companion.
Training:
Winnie is fully house-trained and knows to sit, stay and come. She is a good leash walker and her foster reports that there is very little training she still needs to work on.
She may bark to alert her people when something catches her attention, but responds well to a reminder once she knows you've heard her.
